A fire deep inside
Built up just for you
I've laid every log
Careful and so true
Just to make you see
What I really felt
Eagerly I do wait
Just to put it out
I left it for a day
Looked away at night
Even though I tried
It never left my sight
I've tried to light another
But never does it start
It really makes me wonder
If I have burnt my heart
That fire you helped birth
Will burn in me forever
The best that I can do
Is keep it to a flicker
